Meet our 2018 interns  

I’m a rising junior at Tulane University studying architecture. I am looking forward to interacting with the Souderton community this summer through the VAM program.

Evie Bentch


In the fall, I will be starting my freshman year at Franklin and Marshall College, pursuing a major in biochemistry. In addition to helping out at SMC, I will be working with various organizations in the area and will be learning about how they plan to better the lives of people in their surrounding communities.

Nathan Wong


I am a rising sophomore at Hamilton College in upstate New York, where I plan to major in economics. Along with participating in the VAM program, I will be spending my summer as an intern at the Keystone Opportunity Center.

Alex Kurtz


I am entering my freshman year at Temple University, in the nursing program. I’m also a member of Doylestown Mennonite Church, and after becoming a nurse am planning on going to Eastern University to become a pastor. I already am really enjoying working with VAM, and have loved getting to spend time with the other members!

Christian Zeo


I am about to start my fifth and final year at Iowa State University studying architecture. Along with interning at SMC, I will also be serving as an intern at Tiny WPA, a non-profit organization in Philadelphia. Tiny WPA is a public workshop that helps the people in the community learn design and building skills.

Vanessa Miller


I am entering my sophomore year at Indiana University of Pa. where I am pursuing a major in Chemistry/ Pre-Med. I’m very excited to be participating in the VAM program and serving different communities.

Zach Malone


I will be a student at EMU in the next year, planning on majoring in education and minoring in music. Through the VAM internship, I hope to gain a better understanding of how to better interact with others, and learn about local opportunities for serving and development.

Emily Bennett


I am an IVEPer for a year from Egypt. I am very excited to have joined the VAM especially that it was a fraction of  a chance that I will be able to since I am an IVEPer, looking forward to learn and make new friends.

Rafik Shehata


I am heading into my senior year at Eastern University, studying Social Work. In the past, I have served with City Service Mission in Philadelphia, and at Eastern University through our prison ministry. I am thrilled to be serving, once again, in my home church!
